That teenager swimming the Rio is not less of a human than your own teenager. That guy CBP rounded up, dumped in a cell in 110F heat, and deported without trial to Ecuador is your husband, or your son, but for chance. That family torn apart by evil immigration policies is *yours*, in another life.

my bestfriend is undocumented and the way her immigration status was used to trap her in an abusive marriage is horrible. it’s something that addressing should have a lot of buy in from a wide range of groups from labor to feminists to churches etc

okay but part of the problem is that the attitude has been 'just give me an impossibly strong majority in Congress for an impossibly long time and we'll do good deals on immigration including a path to citizenship, but until then I guess we keep talking about it like Republicans do'
