Trump will not stop pushing if you give him a slap on the wrist; he will push as far as he can possibly go. We've already seen this in action when the House failed to impeach him over the Mueller report and he immediately embarked on extorting Ukraine

I really feel for Merchan. He's the only one with the power to force Trump to face a meaningful consequence, which will then influence the election. He knows doing so will make him a target for violence. That much pressure and responsibility shouldn't be on one person.

We are at the point of wondering how the Republicans will capitalize on this power after Trump dies. Because until then, we appear to be totally focked. Given how he has run the trad conservatives out of town, with four more years to destroy the rest, I’m not optimistic about any improvement

Trump is too stupid to execute Project 2025. It’s the crazy, power hungry lunatics that he’s going to surround with that scare me. The Stephen Millers, Rick Grinnell’s, Kash Patel’s, Steve Bannon’s, Charlie Kirk’s, Michael Flynn’s, Jeffrey Clark’s, etc, etc

It’s also so obviously a way to immunize the whole executive branch-any time you say x Treasury person did a crime, the President says it’s part of the official acts and it’s presumptively legal. And to release this decision now moves from permission/immunity to affirmation.
