On this I 100% disagree, mostly because "national service" /= "military service" The Netherlands system: 2-years national service required if a civil occupation, 1 year national service if military. America could really make good use of 100,000 youthful foresters right now, for example.

I laughed when Lucien said "no one talked about gender" and proceeded to not talk about gender. Didn't observe that Mariko speaks to John as a modern woman, in modern American-inflected English, and in their dialog is where most of the present-day Japanese vs Western conversation occurs.

If you work in silicon valley you can see how south asian males treat south asian females. Elon's many bigotries dissuade some demographics but not others. Folks who learn to drive after the age of 25 are typically worse drivers than someone who learns as a teen. Still confused?

It's a hell of a lot easier--and safer--to punch your allies than your mutual enemies. Leftists who attack liberals are mostly performative chickenshits, in my experience. They slap whomever they view as weakest or least likely to hit back instead of those who are actively doing harm.
