#RS500 190 The thing is they were in their early/mid 20s. Whenever I’m tempted to nitpick Tommy’s many flaws I remember what an insane ambition and very worthy accomplishment it was given that. And its pretensions never overwhelm the rock n roll core (largely due to Moon). Fave song: Pinball Wizard

I’d recommend also listening to their live performances of “Tommy.” There’s the version from the expanded “Live At Leeds” album. Just the 4 of them on stage. Or, their Woodstock performance. It rocks. Then, there’s the “Join Together” 1989 version w/like 20 people on stage.

One weird thing is that 1921 throws off the whole timeline. If the story takes place after WW2 everything works, but after WW1 there’s no way Tommy is less than 35 at the time of Pinball Wizard and much more likely 40 or older
