Back on the front page of Slate with a story about how Wikipedia editors are debating how and where to place Trump’s guilty verdict on his article.

Should his Wikipedia page call him a “convicted felon”? Does that info belong in the first sentence, or elsewhere?

The best use I've heard of it: a retiring senior Canadian civil servant talking about a newly-elected government that seemed intent on violating the public's service long tradition of neutrality. He ended his speech with: "Molon labe. Look it up." and walked off stage. I had goosebumps.

Famously translates either as a defiant "Come and get them" (our weapons) or more subtly as "you will have to come and get them", just as defiant but also fatalistic, as I understand it (I do not speak ancient Laconian Greek).

Molon labe is probably is the most famous laconian bon mot. Somewhat appropriated by activists of the right to bear combat weapons, unfortunately.

He did the keynote at CSICon last fall. It was dreadful on any criteria you can think of. It's rare when every other speaker at a three-day conference is better than the keynote, but he managed it.

I did not expect to find a discussion on the Supreme Court of Canada's decision on Quebec secession in @weinersmith.bsky.social's A city on Mars (on space settlement). Actually, Canada gets mentioned a surprising number of times in the book.
