I think a lot of the online mob participating in the cancellation would profess anarchist politics be in favor of non-carceral solutions. The whole thing has got me thinking, if your alternative is financial ruin and turning someone into a complete pariah undeserving of even a modicum of safety...

Been watching a cancellation (not on bsky) that's resulted in someone's complete loss of income/career, stalking, threats of gun violence/arson, hospitalization due to suicide ideation due to all of the above due to something that (imho, outsider looking in) is not a very clear cut example of abuse.

I can imagine having a big account can have some serious downsides and replies can be annoying but I had to unfollow this one person solely because once a week they’d be like “if you try to riff in my replies and I don’t laugh I will kill myself in front of you and make you watch.”
