Maybe that has to be the new Democratic strategy: get someone in at the last minute so the rightwing smear machine doesn't get a prolonged chance to destroy them. See Hillary, Biden, etc.

I haven't actually been into SciFi since the '80s, when I read some of the books you're talking about. I didn't realize Asimov was a horrible person, but I guess it's not surprising. Too bad. I liked him in other ways. (Might not appreciate the books as much now as when I was 13.)
