Folks are considerably more jumpy than normal because the prospect of a Trump admin is so incredibly severe, and everyone knows it, and all of this is pent up angst that the polls are close and admin is not approaching the election with anything like the sense of urgency it should be

Not so hyperbolic, but I'm definitely old enough (and enough of a politics tragic to remember 2012, when Obama's less than stellar performance against Romney exceeding basically non-existent expectations had the pundits in "game over, man" mode. Obama so elitist and out of touch etc.
