It's what the Founders warned us could happen, when they made all the checks and balances. "Tyrants will be super shitty and boring crooks" is basically the theme of the Federalist Papers.

but they didn't warn us that economic interests would be something completely different today than in their days. A number of rich people today sideline moral obligation and social justice. But that's a no-no on constitutional grounds. Neoclassical economics are unconstitutional.
