I suck at anything beyond the most simple option trade. Is there some financial engineering where I buy the stock and then short it and make a lot of money off of lending the stock and the short? Seems pretty dumb because you'd rather not buy the stock but someone has probably thought of something.

If you're buying the stock and selling the put option... you're doing exactly the opposite of what you want to be doing.
