In a 2022 survey of an extremely high sample of NZ psychiatrists they found that: "High burnout appears to affect one in three psychiatrists in New Zealand" "45% agreed they would leave their current job if able and 87% disagreed that they are working in a well-resourced mental health service"

This is why, long term, I chose not to re-career into psychology or counselling despite finding it the best fit for me. They need the back-end support and safety to do even their effective minimum, as you've already pointed out.
