Haven't written new words every day in July like I'd hoped because of working on edits. But I've written 5k on A Bid on Love! I can't scoff at that.

A little pining from Zoey. A lot of what I've written has been heated midpoint conflict this month, but this is calm before the storm.

Yes! I've been pleasantly surprised at the wide range of genres represented! And I always love seeing all the SPN omegaverse stuff too. I'll personally read just about anything so I enjoy the diversity for sure.

Got a short story rejection today that stings. I was (and still am) happy with this story. Some rejections just hit harder, and Iā€™m usually good at handling it. But this is one that has sent me into the ā€œwhat am I even doing? Iā€™ll never be good enough.ā€ spiral. So thereā€™s that. *sigh*

Day 2 of reading my book straight through. Do you love my giant font, triple spacing format for editing? I do. I havenā€™t written a lot in it yet. I told myself Iā€™d put my reader hat on first. Chapter 8/28. Aiming to have this done before we leave for SAGA Genre Writers Con on Thursday.

Alright, friends. Looking for recs. I need a laptop (PC--I'd love a Mac but I need a PC for now.) Had an HP Omen since 2018. I'd prefer a gaming laptop since I stream & haven't been able to for months because my laptop has been going downhill, but as long as the specs fit.

Yup! We have to create that on our own in indie. Which, to be honest, may be something I start focusing on after I go indie. Like a co-op of sorts? I have some things in the works with multiple offshoot options. So weā€™ll see where the road goes. :)

I turned down a small press deal last year b/c it didnā€™t give me much more opportunity than I will get indie, aside from less work from me. But landing the right agent with the right vision for my books would be the difference maker for me. But it likely wonā€™t be this book given market trends.

My book is not likely going to sell as a trad debut anyway. But I do think trad still is less work for the author and not even. You donā€™t have to do your own cover design, hire your own editor, & depending on the size of the press, it does come with some level of prebuilt audience and distribution.

I mean more as in the chance aspect of winning the lottery and not the life changing aspect. Trad is very much right time, right place in a lot of ways. And even right mood of the agent who might say yes to something if they look at it again on a different day.

The trad industry is so much "right time, right place" honestly. I'm excited to self-pub, and I now I can do a good job, but there's always that nagging "what if?" in the back of my mind. And mostly, I'm just tired. Not having to do it alone sounds nice. lol

Iā€™ve already got self-pub stuff in motion. Itā€™s not that Iā€™m settling for it. Itā€™d just be nice to have an agent and not have to do it myself. And itā€™s like playing the lottery because trad is so much luck. If you donā€™t play you donā€™t win, so the FOMO is like what if Iā€™d bought one more ticket?

I still have queries out I'm waiting to hear from, but I'm moving closer to a decision to self-pub. The hardest part is when I see agents open that haven't been while I've been querying who might be a good fit, and I get hit with extreme FOMO. It's hard to know when to stop.

Iā€™ve added over 3k words to my contemporary sports romance this week. Itā€™s felt amazing. I havenā€™t drafted anything new this year other than a few new chapters in the holiday romance because life has had other plans, and Iā€™ve even deep in edits. So excited to finish ABOL soon.

Finally having a drink to celebrate my raise at work! Usually have Jack and Ginger but we were almost out of Jack, so this is the Woodford Reserve (usually saved for our Old Fashioneds) with this tasty new ginger beer I found. Perfect.
