They aren't wrong. Blaming victims reduced the chance they would seek help and control the spread. We had people harranging Sen Danforth at town halls, demanding gays be sent to camps "for their own good" back then. (To his credit, Danforth was horrified.) Those days were wretched.

This is my 35th year in practice and sometimez I feel every minute of it when I walk up to the Eagleton in St Louis. Arguing with lawyers younger than my license is annoying. Especially in those rare times when they are right. You can't outlive me AND be right. Ya gotta pick one.

There was a day in living memory when the Mo AG office was a well-run professional operation. The AGs were politicuans but they let the professionals do the job of representing the State. But in the last decade or so, it has become this horror show of theatric foolishness.

Always felt conflicted. I 'grew up' until my teens in the South but we lived in a city populated with Yankees who moved there for space jobs (incl my dad). Only about half the folks I knew had the accent. So I was from the South but not of it.

My dad was at Shortridge HS with Vonnegut but a bit younger, my uncle was in classes with Kurt. Apparently he was always a few degrees off center but hints of genius too, even before the war. I read Vonnegut at my dad's funeral, he said everything so well.
