This chart alone doesn't tell much. It says cost of ownership in the title, but the subtitle implies only repairs and maintenance. Which is it? And if only repairs and maintenance, why? The average age of cars has gone up, are people keeping them longer an paying more to keep them going?

This graph is somewhat useless without a line for inflation. Are cars more expensive or is just everything more expensive?

Seen at a truck stop along I84 in NY. This and the driver time traveled straight from 1987.

He was, in my daughter's words, "Guy with a long hair mullet wearing a muscle tank tucked into jeans with a cowboy belt buckle and rubber boots." 🤣 #weirdcarbs

I tend to trust the engineers that built it. When I had my 2010 Outlook, I sent 2 oil samples to Blackstone at single digit maintenance minder levels. One synthetic, one dyno. Both showed oil at the end of its life, but still good. Of course, early changes don't hurt anything but your wallet.

Seems like a reasonable OCI to me. Wife's CR-V just crossed 11K and hasn't had a its first service yet. 😄 Maintenance minder still says 10%. It'll get scheduled when we get home.

I didn't realize there was a difference between rotaries and roundabouts. I figured it was just regional words for the same thing.

In the past few 10 years or so we've gotten lots in Ohio and they're all heavily striped and have signs telling what lane does what. And people still screw it up. 😂

Went through 2 on the way to Rockport. They were huge compared to our roundabouts in OH. In OH each has signage and lane markings showing what lanes can do what. These had neither, just do your best. 🤣 What rules apply here in MA?

I do the same. One near me backs up 3-6 cars deep in the left lane, maybe 1 in the right. Both lanes can be used to go "straight". I'll always take the RH lane and get by several.

To be fair, Ohio's turnpike exits were numbered sequentially and they renumbered them a while back to align with mile markers. Made more sense. It'd be nice to know when it's ok to turn right from the inner lane of the rotary. Or that there were 2 lanes in the rotary. 😂

-Rotaries are pure chaos. No signage, no lane markings, no instructions. Just send it. -Freeway onramp merge lanes are for wimps. Just send it. -Lane discipline is at least as bad if not worse than Ohio. -The evidently just renumbered all their exits. 2/2

Been in Massachusetts for a few days. Some observations. -Your cars evidently don't come with cruise control. People go from 10 under to 10 over the limit randomly. -Lane markings are optional. 1/2

And I should add, I understand it's not that simple and that doesn't change the pain you feel in your situation now. Having a good faith community and close relationships shouldn't require moving to another state to achieve. I'm sorry that is what you're dealing with.

Your job is remote, right? If you can truly do it from anywhere, then move. The Midwest is dramatically cheaper, but more importantly find a place where you have a faith community. I've learned over the years that matters more than anything else.

There are practical reasons. I use my old Tundra fairly often for carrying large or messy things. Not my main daily, though. My sister had 5 kids and they had a suburban. It was what they needed for the 7 of them & gear for a road trip. Most people don't have these needs, though.

I've concluded the CT is fantastic. I frankly love a vehicle so dedicated to its goofy vision that it compromises its main purpose. But, its problematic founder, rabid fan boys and its "superior truck" narrative far, far outweigh the appeal of its oddball design.

Threads is what you'd expect Twitter made by Meta to be. Keeps defaulting to For You and it generally doesn't work quite like you want it to. But better than Twitter.

I'd gently argue that "good looking" is a low bar that several Caddys have cleared. ETC in certain specs, the Blackwings, Allante, 90s Seville STS, ATS Coupe. But this is certainly the best looking Cadillac since probably the very early 70s.

Photographing your black car under a grid of lights does not make for good photos. This looks like a very interesting vehicle, but the parts availability situation has to be problematic. Given that, I'm not sure if the $20K ask is reasonable or not.
