The editing, cinematography and action choreography definitely felt throwback in a good way. Eddie is Eddie, not as much fun as Dolemite a few years ago but he's engaged and charming. The plot is just what it is. It never mattered in those films and it doesn't matter here.

The beverly hills cop movie is fine! It's impressive how well they captured the 80's aesthetic in all departments. The final shootout in a mansion with packets of cocaine periodically exploding when shot was perfect.

I only watched about 30 min of Beverly Hills cop 4 but they certainly got the "Eddie Murphy drives around smiling and laughing at local landmarks and eccentrics while opening credits roll" sequence down. Almost as good as The Golden Child.

I've paused Blackberry and am posting a half time review because i suck. This is a good movie. It's not moneyball or margin call but it's a good version of this kind of movie. That said I can kind of sense the cuts that are in the mini-series.
