I think I'd look at that as two separate issues, not one, perhaps depending on the importance of the word 'project'. But either way, being ignored is one thing, being challenged is another. I'd be sure you don't need anyone's approval to continue research that you find stimulating.

I think sharing a photo that would be "ignored" or not noticed would be my fear 😄 Maybe until I know for certain that, if that happened, it wouldn't jeopardize how I feel about the project myself, I shouldn't share it until it's finished.
