1800 km isn't long distance: SYD-SFO is about 12 000 km, SYD-LHR 16 000 km, that's what's needed to fully replace kerosene-powered jets. France has the right idea to replace as much air travel as possible with high speed (300 km/h+) electric rail, this can & should be done everywhere, immediately

Agreed on replacing short and mid distance flights with high speed rail. But 1,800 miles is a long enough distance to cover most air travel flights, although significant development will be needed to get to large capacity. As I stated, this is an existing gap.
