The reason the media couldn't really cover this lawsuit extensively is because she dropped her lawsuit on November 4, 2016, just four days before the election, and her real name was never revealed. She had received death threats, according to her lawyer, despite never being named publicly.

Funny, I don't recall the LNP tabling legislation to implement term limits during the decade they were in government. πŸ€”

Perhaps (putting aside for a minute the existential threat from SCOTUS), the Dems should (subtly) emphasise her as VP would take over in case of an issue?

But how much of that difficulty was unavoidable? Opponents were never going to support it, trying to get them onboard (including by abandoning the public option) wasted so much time. Delaying (including its start) also allowed lies ('death panels' πŸ˜–) to persist until the changes were finally active.

Notice how everyone is somehow talking about Biden Too Old right now, and NOT about how the Supreme Court just legalized Trump being a dictator for life and gutted the administrative state, and how the Heritage Foundation is now issuing terrorist threats? Think that might not be an accident?

Majority of votes for president has never been a requirement in the USA (because of the Electoral College) so isn't an excuse for Dems not acting quickly when they've had both the presidency & a congressional majority, instead they've gone slow (do you remember the health care saga under Obama?)

Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise

This situation is scary. I worry that there's no way now to avoid democracy dying in the USA. If Biden uses his new immunity that wouldn't necessarily stop it. This is an awful situation SCOTUS have created.

Well now the "rules" have changed, perhaps Biden should take one for the country, use the presidency's new immunity to remove the corrupt SCOTUS members to restore logic & integrity there, even if the resultant SCOTUS would overturn that overly-broad immunity & result in him being convicted?

While most American Jews are supportive of Israel, others have protested vigorously against U.S. support for Israel and are demanding a cease-fire in the Gaza war. They carry signs saying β€œNot in Our Name.” They’re carrying on a long tradition of American Jews who have opposed Israel’s actions.

Lots of women are already paying hell and there will be hell for everyone if no one does anything. There are lots of suggestions for what Biden can do but I think he should address SCOTUS before going after Trump. They’re all part of the same fascist movement. Biden swore to protect us.

The polluted water from four open-pit coal mines in southern B.C.’s Elk Valley is well documented β€” fish-killing selenium, sulphates and nitrates travelling into watersheds along the U.S. border. Plus an airborne contaminant. Andrew Nikiforuk reports.

Sadly civil war (as awful as it would be) isn't the real risk that must be avoided, fascist dictatorship is, and the USA is heading straight towards it, and that's terrifying.

This. How many thought Roe was the worst from Trump packing SCOTUS? Biden refused to pack it to restore balance; what do you think of that inaction now? What in a few years' time? Trump wants to be a dictator. People also didn't believe what Hitler said in Mein Kampf until it was too late.

History showed long ago countries that copied the US presidential-style of govt are more susceptible to dictatorship because of the power vested in an individual president, compared to Westminster-style govt where a simple majority of the lower house of Parliament can remove the prime minister

The 14th Amendment says if you were involved in an insurrection you can't be president. SCOTUS said they won't allow anyone to enforce that because of reasons they made up. The Constitution doesn't say the president is immune from criminal law. SCOTUS decided he is because of reasons they made up.

Just because you're used to the system to elect the US President doesn't make it really democratic; it's limited by first-past-the-post, the electoral college, the party-based primary system & money. And without preferential voting the system reinforces the existing 2 incumbent parties.

Politicians knowing when to quit seem to have always been very rare; the ego that drives someone into such a job is the same thing that makes it difficult for them to know when to go (which would've been before the 1st primary).

Thanks for correcting, 2900 km is better but still not enough (yet), 12 000 km is far in the future. Of course I'd have preferred if you'd put the correct number (2900) instead of changing to antiquated & unclear units πŸ˜‰ (I'm assuming you meant 1.6093 km rather than nautical mile, 1.852 km)

True, but the US's primary system is an outlier; usually party members nominate candidates then the public vote for the options in order of preference. There's nothing undemocratic about that, but you're right that wouldn't stop false & misleading claims to the contrary.

1800 km isn't long distance: SYD-SFO is about 12 000 km, SYD-LHR 16 000 km, that's what's needed to fully replace kerosene-powered jets. France has the right idea to replace as much air travel as possible with high speed (300 km/h+) electric rail, this can & should be done everywhere, immediately
