Also thought this was a step up from The Searcher (which I still enjoyed.) I could spend 400 pages just reading Mart’s conversations lol. Also I generally don’t listen to audiobooks but did for these and the narrator is fantastic

I know! I would read a book dedicated solely to the missing hat saga. I read a fair number of reviews saying that the book takes too long to get to the murder, but I could not disagree more. The murder feels like a distant second to the characters in that town
