Pretty sure "terrible but expected" is exactly what "assuming the worst" means here. But OP is correct: this ISN'T the election yet. It's gonna be hard, but it's still UP TO US to make sure the fascists don't take complete control in November. Voting is the only peaceful option to stop them still.
