That seems less likely to allow the coalition to tear itself apart, because a change in the event of a documented health concern or death wouldn't feel like volitional activity in the way that this, premised on greater abstraction, surely would.

My concern is that a party committee replacing Biden at the convention is going to create a bunch of grousing from the Bernie faction about how undemocratic the process was. And Trump will run around campaigning on saving democracy from those autocratic Democrats.

The problem is that it often feels like Joe Biden's good performances only disprove that he's an invalid (within the discourse) for about 4 days. It doesn't stick. People just want to believe he's too compromised to do the job. And we Americans, we get what we want.

I am a psychiatrist in NYC for something called an ACT team, which is a model that exists, at least in parts of CA. This is pretty much designed for people like this (chronic decompensation/hospitalization due to treatment non-adherence), where we bring treatment to them. Somewhat insistently.

A lot of the ideals she seems to hold about how Democracy work would be less unreasonable in a parliamentary setting. I wish the difference between proportional systems (which function more in the way she is looking for) and FPTP systems like ours were more the focus than how our allies are sellouts
