The thing is, people know exactly how to make it better. It's really not that difficult. But the other side have a vested interest in keeping it bad, because in a system that's actually fair they would never win again. (The fun thing is this is true whether you're talking about the US or the UK).

Regardless of the reason for them getting more conservative, the fact is you can't look at *one* particular generation getting more conservative and extrapolate that to conclude that everyone does. It's simply a logical fallacy.
