They chopped the LUT off, plopped it on the ground (it was previously on the Mobile Launcher), and named it the Fixed Service Structure (FSS).
So the stuff that went through the UIP and needed to go to the FSS was basically preserved but now redirected *sideways* with new pipes ๐ช

The Utilities Interface Platform (UIP) used to bring potable water, air, etc. from various systems from the pad deck (or apron) *up* to the Apollo Mobile Launcher and Launch Umbilical Tower (LUT).
But in the shuttle era, the LUT was moved...

Just heard a line from the always wonderful History of Japan podcast talking about 1930s Japan - he tells his students fascism isnโt really an ideology since fascists reject scholarly analysis. Itโs more of an emotional state. That sounds like a helpful way to think of it to me.

I had read how a ton of conservative money went to state races in the 2010s, so while not conceding the presidency they just switched focus during those Obama years, and it took another ~ten years or so but it paid off for them big time.

You might think the crawler-transporter is the whole thing carrying the shuttle, but it isn't. There's the Mobile Launch Platform (MLP) that the CT picks up, and then the shuttle stack lies on top of the MLP. The 2nd image shows just the CT, w ppl for scale. ๐ธ - Kennedy Space Archive and Wikipedia

If anything the problem is they're forming new paddles so rapidly I don't have as many chances to propagate as I'd like, since I don't wanna break off a still-forming paddle or one that isn't full/thick yet.

Fun fact - the Orlan space suit (ะัะปะฐะฝ, "sea eagle") has a little window on top so the cosmonauts (or astronauts) can see above them ๐จโ๐๐ท๐บ On that note, not only Russian cosmonauts have used the suits. On the ISS, American, European, and other astronauts have donned those suits. too.

Walking home from the gym, I watched two cars at two different intersections blatantly run red lights, while I also walked by and overheard a cop chewing out a kid pulled-over for speeding ridiculously fast on a street filled with pedestrians. The drivers in this town SUCK in a special way.

Well letโs use โsavingsโ in quotes or call it something else, and not expect that to do much work offsetting it. Though perhaps if its done nationwide thereโd be a better return (โsavingsโ) than for a single city? That plus tax reform plus reprioritizing our budget maybe would help
