As someone who’s gonna stretch “middle age” till the day before I drop dead (when, if I’m lucky, it’ll be a lie), physical limitations of age are not as scary as cognitive limitations. Of course I might change my mind if it stays intact enough.

Apropos of nothing, last night I saw “Merrily We Roll Along” and right before Covid I saw “Little Shop of Horrors” so now I’m an expert on all things Jonathan Groff.

So the question is—if Biden chooses to step down—is picking Harris worse than not picking Harris? Like you realize you’re engaged to someone who’s totally wrong for you. Sure, you’re walking down the aisle, and it’s kinda late to cut and run—but any worse than going through with it?

My fear (more like a guess) is, since this is how these things seem to go, the dems thoroughly vet the most appealing candidates and then manage to choose the worst one, somehow with a closetful of rattling skeletons that they somehow missed. Prez steps aside and the other guys then spend from (1/2)

Makes you wonder. Not why people take the chance for rebirth and throw it away, but why some bad-actors are Teflon and others just aren’t.

“The new vaccine also uses a live, modified version of a virus. However, it does not rely on the vaccinated body having this traditional immune response or immune active proteins”—which, *if* true, seems to mean you don’t have to worry about feeling mildly terrible after u take the new vaccine

Yup. Some years back I looked for a piece I once wrote for a (now-deceased) journal called Alimentum. Couldn’t link to it. Found it on the Wayback Machine and pdf’d it right quick. “My Big Fat Orthodox Thanksgiving” had come thatclose to gone. Scary.

All this reminds me suddenly of “Gorky Park,” which I haven’t thought of in decades—the part where a discovered skull is built up layer by layer to reveal the identity of the murder victim.

Texas new state song (everybody!): “To life, to life, l’chaim…” Someone tell me that this is not yet again a case of valuing babies in utero more than after birth. (And of course, valuing mom least of all.) Horrific.

I haven’t practiced in a long time but my first thought was: what rights did the plaintiff think he was acquiring in the first place? Can we look at the contract? Don’t know if this is apropos; never practiced r/e law. Also, AI is a liar and a fabulist for now. Making it useless for law.

“May or may not” is a winner. So useful! “Do you take this man…” “I may or may not.” Signing a contract: just cross out every “I will” and replace with your new favorite phrase. Oath of office: see above. Which would explain a lot, actually.

Reskeet how old you are, using a vague proxy. In college I got a job as a proofreader. The word processing department would type up documents and letters that had been handwritten by the “associates,” and our group proofread them.
