This feels like one of those times that those of us who religiously and obsessively follow politics may view it as malpractice, whereas the rest of the voting country won't even notice. My guess is it the delay until this Friday won't really matter to anyone but politics junkies.

I really really hope that you’re right. My worry is that once a narrative has set, it’s 5X harder to change. But, maybe you’re right, and I’d be very happy about that
