It was only a matter of time before the Trumpian right began trying to discredit MLK, Jr. and the 1964 Civil Rights Act as unbearably "woke" and "un-American." Recall that the "1776 Project" from Hillsdale claimed that civil rights activism took a wrong turn in the 60s. www.wired.com/story/charli...

If he thinks that the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s was violent, he's going to be really shocked to find out about those who opposed it.

This seems like a "have you no sense of decency, sir?" moment, but we are lacking in Joseph Welches these days.

Once the GOP kicks MLK, the Civil Rights Act, the 1965 Voting Rights Act (which the conservative SCOTUS has been chipping away), and birthright citizenship to the curb, the path will be cleared for institutionalizing a far more explicitly "blood and soil" form of nationalism.

So fucking stupid. Their whole basis is that even with the law, fights for civil rights was brutal? And that King advocated for peace but was also well aware of the power of riots? That's it? Anyone who has taken any history classes already knows this. This should not be new to anybody.
