What’s funny generally about so much Christian pop culture is that it’s mere product that never does anything artistically interesting or innovative. It’s all entirely imitative of secular pop culture. Christian songs are just secular love songs with God or Jesus standing in for the love interest.

It occurs to me that one fact tripping up the “lying TERFs” hypothesis here is that Tortoise is based in the UK, where libel and defamation laws would require them, if he sued, to prove the story true. So if it really is all lies, he has every reason to file immediately. Tortoise would be doomed.

I do agree with this. Whether or not anything that could be proven in court as a crime occurred, if Neil really initiated something with an employee, he crossed an ethical line. Period. “Consensual” encounter or not, this never should be done at any time.

I’m not responsible for defending the version of me you’ve created in your head. But I’ve known of many individuals across several professional fields accused of SA, and only one was a false allegation. In all the others, sources were reliable and multiple independent sources confirmed each other.

I did none of those things. I only said that so far the only source for the allegations is a right wing podcast hosted by known TERFs, people known for lying and defaming anyone they hate. This isn’t proof the claims are false (may be 100% true), but yeah, independent confirmation would be great.

Case in point: back in I think 2020, two very prominent SFF writers (a well known couple) were accused of grooming and SA by another writer. This caused an enormous furor until yet another writer, a person with an unassailable reputation, spoke out to confirm the couple’s version of events was true.

Oh, this should be interesting. I remember reading the novel many years after seeing the movie, considering the differences, which parts the book did well and which the movie improved on (there were some). Still, I just cannot even see it being the sort of novel that would be written today.
