Hamas has all the NGOs - not on the payroll, but all with a vow of silence never to mention Hamas, and they never raise the alarm when armed men come into their premises, never evacuate the premises.

Some say that at the beginning of the war, Hamas offered to free all the hostages in return for having no further consequences for killing 1200 Israelis. I don't know if that's just a myth or if it was suggested, but it's amazing chutzpah if it was.

I guess you're thinking about the Balfour Declaration, which was one hopeful statement, soon abandoned and betrayed by the British Mandate. Returning to Israel was a Jewish project.

Jews in the Diaspora wanted to move back to Palestine because they were being killed. They bought land & started farming. By 1920 they were being killed in Palestine too. If the Arabs let them live in peace, cd hv had the unitary state back then.

11,000 of the claimed casualties, Gaza Media Office admitted had 'incomplete information.' So casualty count 23,000. 13,000 of those are Hamas soldiers killed by Israel. So 10,000 civilians. 42% of casualties are women and children - from Gaza hospital figures. It's nowhere near as bad as you think.

After 1918 under the British Mandate, the British revived the word Palestine. The people who adopted the word with pride were the local Jews.

Under the Ottoman Empire, there was no Palestine. The area was divided into the independent Sanjak of Jerusalem, and the vilayet of Beirut. Arabs called themselves Arabs, or identified with Ottoman regions, or with their tribal or clan units.
