Nice write-up What's missing for me is in-depth discussion about legal liability in relation to these types of protocols People seem to believe that they can transmit anything they choose with zero liability, which is interesting Section 230 isn't foolproof and EU / other / local laws differ

nice writeup. I can confirm that SSB has a pretty heavy parentage to atproto and nostr. Atproto also got heavily influenced by IPFS

Scroll to the bottom if you don't want to see > this post sucks. atproto sucks and nostr is better in every way. more decentralized. atproto is centralized garbage --jack

commenting on the *form* of this write-up more than the content: encourage writing a stackexchange question and then self-answering it! very high-impact (SEO, shows up as search snippet), and allows competing answers/perspectives

Thanks a lot for this, I now have a much better understanding of AppViews. Q: What's "hydration"? (I see it used a lot when discussing custom feeds, but I've never looked up what it means.)

As someone who uses both protocols, the competition framing never made sense to me. Each protocol chose different tradeoffs. We should not get distracted by technical details and instead remember our common adversaries. If the status quo is not disrupted, our collective future is very bleak.
