like i'm sorry but sometimes you are going to have to live with the guilt of not knowing! sometimes you are going to have to deal with the fact that had previously thought well of them before you found out they were an abuser!

People gotta get comfortable with not knowing, because legitimately not knowing or not being aware isn't a moral failing on their part. Also equating sketchy feelings with *knowing for sure* isn't helping things either. It's ok to have a bad feeling without jumping to conclusions.
