The only area that isn’t a clear improvement over an ICE is longer trips. Anything under 200 miles, not really noticeable, but longer trips require more planning/coordinating feeding/watering/caffeinating humans with charging the car. This is a pretty low priority for us though. 4/4

I thought we would need to install a home charger, but range is ~250 and my daily commute is usually ~40/intermittently ~80 and trickle charging off a standard outlet is fine 99.9% of the time. I’ve had to use public charging once for routine use in two years. 3/

I don’t think we save much money overall, since our comparison car was the Prius, but just plugging it in at night and never thinking about it is a 10/10 quality of life improvement, and the quieter running/no car smells is good for my abundance of sensory sensitivities. 2/

I absolutely adore it. It’s zippy, fun to drive, low maintenance, and I never have to stop at gas stations (which is a thing I hated, my wife used to always fill up whenever she had the shared car to make sure I didn’t have to. She’s very sweet.) 1/

Congress (back when it worked sometimes) passed a law in 2010ish, but it didn’t get finalized until 2016 and went into effect in 2019, so you’ll often find older ones that don’t, but anything manufactured recently will have a noise.

Yeah, our 2010 Prius is just silent when running on battery, and I think this was a good added requirement! I do wish it were like phone ring tones and you could select a sound or upload your own… Tardis noise car, go go!

Most of the time I find it comforting that mom noticed and tried. And I wouldn’t change the past if I could because if I’d had anything even remotely like focus or follow through I don’t know that I would ever have met my wife and I wouldn’t trade her for anything. But sometimes, I’m just PISSED.

I don’t usually advocate for all the stupid bed in a box mattresses hawked by podcasts, but this is a feature of our Purple mattress that can’t be understated: this thing sleeps COLD. (We don’t have a pillow top version or anything, just straight on the grid-thinger, and it barely retains any heat.)

Oh yeah, I’ve heard of this, there were like 30 of them total! My grandfather was a B-17 bombardier who was shot down over enemy lines, but he broke his ankle and wasn’t walking anywhere… (He was lucky enough to be hidden by the underground though, or I might not be telling you about it.)
