The AKP+MHP alliance has taken minds captive. The lack of critical voices in the mainstream public discussion about the Merih Demiral spectacle is a testament. A sense of loneliness in the world and strong nationalist entitlement as a response are normalized.

Responsibility is projected outwards. Ironically, group thinking and opinion prevail over expertise in the name of expertise. People play along for different reasons, including ideological commitment, careerism, fear of repression&apathy. Dissent is increasingly on the periphery.
