They hyper individualism behind the impulse to simply exit all together forever is probably deeply American, but it’s not just if you are a person who could otherwise be building community to sustain us (and everyone could be that) like so many people before opted to do under worse circumstances.
Personally, I became a parent in the happy post-Obama-reelection days of 2013, and in the ensuing 11 years I've come to feel betrayed on multiple fronts by that community - electing Trump and closing schools and everything else - and meanwhile have the interests of my kids to worry about.
I'd like to offer my personal reason for wanting to move (states not country)
I'm just starting to transition, my spouse has been for a few years and we have a kid.
There's no community to be built here simply because the population is too small (42 in the town)
That's probably an edge case
