We had NO water in the creek last summer, and it took 6-8 months to get enough moisture to allow anything to grow. I counted at least 5 dead cedar elms that failed to survive the past several years of drought, heat, and extreme cold (with ice storms).

So, glass half full, this year has been better. I've spent my whole life around the Great Lakes so I take the abundance for granted. Climate change noted here so far is a bit warmer (no more backyard rinks), slightly more violent wind events, species creep and, recently, closer big forest fires .
