I vaguely understood what an election was and understood enough to know that it was important. The next one was 1997 and I still wasn't old enough to vote in it, but I was a big Tony Blair supporter and chuffed they won.

2001 was the first GE I voted in and I voted Labour, same again in 2005. 2010 - for my shame - I voted Tory. My bf and I at the time both thought Cameron was on the right track about things. We were young professionals, money in our pockets, each owned our own home. Privileged Twat Era for sure.
