I really hate that we've gotten to the point in this dystopian nightmare where we're begging our elected officials to become authoritarian dictators to snuff out the opposition in order to make sure that the other side doesn't get to do it to us first.

no, this is the intolerance paradox (in order to maintain a tolerant society, you must be strictly intolerant of intolerance). the only way to avoid the authoritarian dictatorship that already exists within the SC, is to crush them quickly and decisively. this would actually strengthen democracy
