Germany’s domestic intelligence agency says number of far-right extremists has been rising. In 2022, it reached 38,800, with 14,000 of them considered potentially violent.

The agency’s head, Thomas Haldenwang, said the numbers are believed to have risen again last year.

Re-reading this great paper by Alexander Kustov et al. This is exactly what happened in NL: those with anti-immigration attitudes voted for Wilders because this issue was (made) salient. Not their attitudes have changed, but the political circumstances.

Goede vraag! Ik ken wel onderzoek naar de omstandigheden waaronder groene issues overgenomen worden (bijv. ejpr.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1...) maar geen onderzoek dat kijkt naar de electorale gevolgen van die strategie. Hopelijk weten de anderen meer.
