Can't wait for the NYT to run with this for a couple weeks and speculate as to who should replace Trump on the ticket when he steps aside

Probably an issue with the sample or it could be that there's something off in how their data collection. I view those both as more likely than a 47 point swing. Less likely is that demographic self-identifying as Rs as some kind of protest over, say, Palestine.

I can't help but feel that these kinds of investigations *should* be routine. Investigate all 9! Have a branch of the Secret Service or FBI dedicated to tracking their financials! They're lifetime appointees who need to face scrutiny after Senate confirmation.

How many times does that fear deserve to be in the spotlight though? So many words, column inches, and days spent airing that fear and asking that question by elite media floods the zone and clearly implies a single answer. Also, posts speculating on alternate tickets are clearly beyond that point

This is some loser shit, Brian. I've been following her and getting your newsletter since your Crooked days, but I'm out. Biden wasn't my preferred candidate in 2020, I felt like he shouldn't have run in 2024, but he's the nominee. He's said he's not stepping aside.

Are you angling to start writing for the Times? The entire "retire Biden" movement feels very artificial - it feeds on an absolute blitz of articles citing back to, yes, "one bad night."

What crisis? The man had a bad debate - the only people who see this as a crisis write for prestige media. Get over it. Report on Trump's daily verbal diarrhea every bit as rabidly as you have on one debate.

Sorry what? He's creating a party filled only with sycophants - characterizing them as 'rising stars' implies they have any value or potential outside of Trump. He's running a reality show, not making a studied decision.

Disagree. I think the thing for them to do is now publicly call for court expansion and reform *while remaining on the court themselves.* I think a push from currently serving Justices might help get Biden and the rest moving

Toothless. I'm disappointed in his response - SC reform needs to be a high priority so that institutions, not personality, define the limits of the presidency.

It might be a calculation on his part - if he rules the way he has, Dems have shown they'll yell but acquiesce. If he rules the other way, decent odds Trump sends a mob of people to hang him.

I'd like to suggest again that maybe you should break into your normal skeet schedule to cover the Supreme Court decision that makes coups fine so long as it's an official act. Y'know, that seems like a more pressing thing than a fundraiser

In this term, the Supreme Court has legalized bribery and basically anything a President wants to do (unless it's things like forgiving student loans or protecting the environment). Judges with lifetime appointments rule the US quasi-officially now.

Do journalism students generally end up finding journalism jobs with major media outlets? It might be that these students don't get journalism jobs Genuine question, as it feels like 1. There aren't a lot of those jobs and 2. Degrees in journalism aren't necessary to get those jobs (nepotism etc)

Spoiler alert: it didn't, unless you consider YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter national security threats (which you probably should) The problem isn't any one app, it's a lack of regulation for the use of gathered data.

This is fingers-in-ears silliness though. Sure we can avoid the worst, but we're not doing the things that get us away from the worst. Coining a term doesn't reduce carbon emissions and prevent potential ecological collapse.

Budget documents! So I can argue with a school board that wants to close multiple schools in the same year they opened a new charter school and gave the superintendent a 20% raise.

100%. I can't see any serious teacher wanting to do too much more than that, and always in coordination with actual people. The really sad thing is that if school districts buy it, it's going to be used to justify larger class sizes.

In my imagining, I viewed it more as a check-over before submitting for peer or teacher review. I honestly have no idea where else you'd try to fit it (I definitely wouldn't want to try and defend an AI-generated grade on a term palet)

Am I missing something? The headline is 'teachers embrace' ai grading, but most of the article is about big textbook companies making tools that do that. I can see uses (have students turn in papers to the tool to get notes on a rough draft), but I can't see ai grading replacing teacher grading

If her online following evaporated, do you think she remains politically relevant? I think that's maybe the fundamental disagreement here; I don't see or understand her to be someone who has 'consolidated power' so much as someone who has monetized a platform Rs find useful.

Raichik's online following is the only thing that makes her powerful - she's definitely not smarter or more insightful than many others, she just has millions of followers online. If she ran a channel with 50k followers, she wouldn't *have* political sway in OK or anywhere else
