I'm a hard-eyed realist about electoral politics, that's why I'm advising the Democrats to shove aside the elected vice president and replace her with someone who'd vacate a purple- or red-state Senate seat

Turned on CNN at 8:57 and that 9 person melee was too much for this poor bonked brain that's already up past its bedtime. Good job guys, you broke me, I'm out and will have to read about it tomorrow. Good luck to all you hardy souls who are gonna try to make it to the end.

I’m sure as he was moving up from like 38 to 9 in a third of a lap that was not caught on camera Mr Pidcock treated all of his competitors with the utmost respect and sportsmanship.

This one just took proprioception and a lot of sensation in the legs, and was pretty much the end of rowing. (The C3-5 mostly temporary paralysis was 4yrs later, my own fault, from MTB.) I did get some sensation back, but have never felt that sweet lactic acid burn since. 🙁

Oh, I had a year and a half of facial reconstruction after the whole coming back after CPR and spending a week in a coma and then having to learn to walk again after my L1 vertebra got smooshed. Good times. (Then another year of cognitive rehab)

Facebook popped up a 10yr memory anniversary for me the other day of a doctor being 'surprised that I wasn't "more vegetative"' after reading the medical files after my mauling, and then this morning the second cyclist in 2 weeks was killed by someone driving a truck in Cambridge.

It’s not like one of the two gnarliest injuries I have ever seen in my career as an emergency physician was related to a chainsaw.

It’s hilarious that you ask this of someone who knowingly bought a house with an actively leaking roof.
I can hook you up with a roof guy and some mold remediation guys. Still looking for a less obnoxious plumber, though.
Any chance you’d be willing to lend me a chainsaw in return?

Thankfully dog is away at camp bc 1/2lb wet coffee grounds were very very well scattered. Maybe somehow the residual smell will scare away the spiders.

Don’t know how your morning’s going, so far but I’ve managed to dump about a half pound’s worth of cold brew setup off the carafe, over onto the (closed) garbage can, off which it spin-bounced onto the floor, wildly spewing contents as it rotated. Before 7am and obvs before I’d had any coffee.

I’ve always loved her. I think she’s doing great, but all the new twists are bringing the whole season down it seems like you can feel the producers’ thumbs pressing on the outcomes more this season. (With the possible exception of both of that jackass Buddha’s wins.)

The purity demands are mind blowing to me. You dislike one aspect of a candidate, don’t want to vote for them, and are willing to risk winding up with someone who represents EVERYTHING else that appalls you. Spiting the face, etc etc

Full on threw an elbow into me towards the end of the start straight at a practice STXC race a couple years ago. Should've fought back but got distracted by the internal laugh track going on about finally getting my 'Paul Curley Racing' baptism.

Really wish there was some way to contact Salman Rushdie (obvs get why there doesn't seem to be) bc his @npr.org Fresh Air description of calmly knowing he was a dying atheist, then having to live the aftermath is nearly exactly the same as my experience, only more eloquently articulated. Just wow.

Just finished the 1st half of the apparently annual drive south. You're very very impressively manly w/your pristinely clean scratchless massive lifted pickup with nothing in it, but I'm a Boston driver and you're definitely not going to be able to merge that thing in front of me.
