Yeah so immediately after writing this I realized why they did that: 6.x is a goddamn *tutorial*. They're laying the groundwork for it to be the entry point for future players. The entire arc is redundant coming fresh out of EW but it perfectly summarizes the WoL's place in the world for newcomers

Correct, a while back Yoshi-P mentioned in an interview that it was supposed to be more of an interlude than a bridge between 6.0 and 7.0. I agree it was kind of meh, but I understand that SE wanted DT and onward to be a clean break from the previous story. 6.x fulfills that purpose, if nothing else

I don't think so. The crafter quests bend over backwards to emphasize that love is expressed by making thoughtful design choices which demonstrate a deep, personal understanding of the bearer's needs; that the effort put into personalization *is* the blessing! That's a beautiful sentiment in itself

Manual verification will probably need to be implemented for celebrities/notable individuals but basically every reputable org with an online presence already owns their domain. It's no small thing for, say, gov't accounts to automatically be verified by having a .gov handle
