Get hits with wild takes in the NYT, profit. No one wants to hear a boring take, they want max-controversy take. They might hate Trump, but him being president is like gasoline for people reading their wild takes for four more years. Don't think the NYT is RW at all, but Trump W helps bottom line.

My mother-in-law cooks whale on occasion in Japan bc she's of that generation and from a region where that was a post-WWII a solution to food issues. Tucked in on a plate of it once before anyone told me what it was, and well, if you like fishy beef or beefy fish, have I got a food for you...

Having had a share of odd meats of the world at one time or the other, I'd generally argue that the ones that have mainstreamed it across the globe are generally the tastiest ones. Though I might be projecting bc I try to eat minimal meat now and want a fried chicken sandwich.

I learned today that my sweet spot for pinball machines is ~1978ish to ~1988ish, where things start to have digital screens but are still pretty mechanical and "heavy feeling" with good action. Didn't love the 1990s-00s. Though I did enjoy that 2020 GnR one which felt nice but was also silly AF
