looking for job openings on linkedin/indeed/ziprecruiter is good for basic searching but you're also competing with literally everyone on the internet. avoid companies that lean into having you apply on linkedin or whatever, and lean towards companies that make you apply on their websites

somewhat counterintuitively, looking for in-person job fairs and recruiting events is gonna bear the most fruit. when i started trying to transition to tech, i attended multiple in-person networking events and it took 6+ months of doing it every month to get into the gig, but online-only was worse
