Thanks! Itā€™s really turned out to be my dream job. Theyā€™re really good here at leaning into everyoneā€™s strengths, so a lot of what I do is building relationships and supporting other educators, and very little curriculum planning.

No, Iā€™m teaching pre-k and k/1, and telling stories at a synagogue. I did do a stint selling books and toys when my kids were little, but it turned out that my favorite part of that job was leading story time.

Yeah, that tracks. Iā€™m such a killjoy at work when kids tell me that thatā€™s their favorite book series. Or, you know, the other one.

This was around when I followed you, back in the old place. I remember not being surprised learning this about him. Never really liked him at Wesleyan. Got to know him a little bit when I worked on a literary magazine and published a couple of his poems.

Yā€™all, how do you tip when you get sandwiches at a deli, but also buy drinks and other items off the shelf? Percentage of the sandwich price? Lower percentage of your total bill?

That was a family favorite. I watched a lot of it with my dad. If you like Jim Rockford, you should check out Republic of Doyle.

The story where Jeremiah and Ben Sira study the Sefer Yetzirah until they are able to make a golem. The bit where the golem, as soon as itā€™s animated, demands to be destroyed has been rattling around in my head ever since.

Heinz is basically the platonic ideal of tomato ketchup. Otoh, as soon as I learned that mushroom ketchup was a thing, I had to make some. Itā€™s not bad for when you want umami fast.

I havenā€™t. Not sure if the seen it around here, but tbh I donā€™t look much beyond my big three: Polar, Topo, and Wegmans.

Iā€™ve tried everything short of telling them there were bunnies or saying the magic W word. Odin one did go out, but Baldr likes his beauty rest. Maybe now that my wifeā€™s up heā€™ll take a look.

I often wonder who makes the store brand seltzers. Wegmans definitely puts a lot of thought into theirs. Shaws/Star Market/Albertsons/etc., maybe not so much.

Oh you want me to touch grass? Do you know how bad grass is for the environment? Why are you cheerleading excessive water use and chemical runoff? How about you stop touching grass and go touch some native wildflowers and pollinator habitats you monster.

I started drinking Topo Chico whenever weā€™d visit my in-laws in Texas. Of course now they have Polar at the Albertsons, and we get Topo at Star Market (pardon me, I mean the Stah).

Yeah, Wegmans is a solid choice, especially when Iā€™m buying in bulk. I keep a lookout for deals on Polar cans. Ocean State Job Lot usually has them cheap. You just have to accept that one of the cans will spring a leak if you sneeze funny.

I donā€™t allow LaCroix in my house. Mostly a Polar guy because I grew up in Worcester. Citrus is always a solid choice. Stone fruit flavors are sometimes great, sometimesā€¦not.

I might have been at that show. There was a show around then where The Cowlicks were the opening band. I went to college with them and was friendly with the fiddle player.

I saw a lot of shows in Northampton and Worcester. First time I saw Boiled in Lead was the Coffee Kingdom in Worcester. Robin started drumming on our table during My Son John, and shattered the plate glass that was over the tablecloth.

Also impressive how long they toured with most of their lineup intact, vs some of the Ship of Theseus bands that are on the scene now.
