The LotR trilogy really was a perfect storm. Heavy use of CGI that still holds up 20 years later, but also a dedication to practial effects we never see anymore. It's also a perfect mix of scrappy indie production mixed with Hollywood money. It shouldn't work. It never worked again

A friend of mine was accused of sexual assault publicly. He and the public facing friends he had got a LOT of shit for being quiet for 2 weeks. Turns out they hired lawyers and they were told to shut the fuck up while an investigation was in progress

Doing something makes your brain realise that you didn't go through the whole program, stuff's still dirty, and allows the brain to go into bedtime mode again. This is also why you sometimes feel like shit after a whole nights sleep. You wake up before "centrifuge" and yeah, it's clean but wet af.

Maybe I'm talking out of my ass here, but I think sleep is like a washing machine. It goes through 3-5 cycles in a night, but if you wake up during the end of a cycle, your body is basically "ok, that's that done" and refuses to go back to sleep.

And more simplified systems relies on the players to fill in the blanks, which can be super fun, but if also falls apart when players aren't really up to it. DnD gives players a complicated enough set of actions to engage in.

I think, when you get right down to it, the thing that works with DnD is that is can be played badly. Any system that is more complicated, like Pathfinder, kind of fails if the understanding of the rules isn't there.

Oh god not having meds makes me absolutely useless. I was wondering why I was feeling sluggish and had a headache even though I was just thinking about how sluggish I get without my meds, and it took me 10 mins to muster the capacity to get an ibuprofen.
