One thing I didn't think about, being a childless single man in my early 40s, was how quickly a language changes. I mean, we used to make up words all the time. It's great for your brain. But there is so much current slang I don't know the meaning of, as I'm not around it's use. It's wild.

I used to think I should have been in my 20s through the 70s, then I looked at my recreational activities and the people I hung out with and realised the cops here were way more brutal back then. Also PA systems were shithouse.

I've got a few mates who do a similar thing. If there is a band or tv show I haven't heard of/seen they'll say "oh, you lucky bastard. I wish I could see/hear it for the first time again". I like the positive spin. I try to make a conscious effort to do it too.

I felt this way about Regarding Henry. Rewatched it maybe 6 months ago and it felt problematic as hell. Harrison Ford's performance was still good, but the film was nowhere near as good as I remembered.

I read a book at school that was so bad it put me off reading for years. I can't remember the name because I forced it from my memory. It was essentially a "and it was all a dream" book. I hated school for that.

There was a mass self outing of similar types last year on Australian twitter. We call them "drips" (long story but most of them had a water droplet emoji in their name). They're all about diversity and inclusion as long as it looks, sounds and thinks like them.
