Are these sims in the "walking a mile in another's shoes" spirit - exercises to ecourage some insight into another's lived experience & akin to having an able-bodied person try navigating inaccessible sidewalks & shops in a wheelchair, or getting politicians to sleep rough for a night?

Yes. Generally they are set up like 'games.' Here's one example from one: “I just got robbed by a drug lord,” she told me. “They’re pushing me to sell their drugs. I told them no and they’re threatening my family and they took my social security card."
