Ah, interesting. When I watch performances, I look at one, then another, then another...what I said about Seungmin and I.N. is really tongue-in-cheek. The order I listed them is random. I've certainly had faves in groups I loved prior to kpop, so this is a new experience.

Completely understandable. It is also often funny and moving, which helps with that, and I love the particular journeys some of the characters go on. (Richie!) Part of the reason I enjoyed is the Chicago setting, which is v. accurate. I'd say the first two seasons are worth it--the third, YMMV.

Just finished s.3 of The Bear. I love a lot about this show, but I have to say that I am pretty sick of Carmie's bullshit and the valorizing of waste/abuse/obsessiveness that is shown as integral to "fine dining". I'd like a more pointed critique, plz, next season. Or we might be parting ways.

Yes, it truly is crazy to have cameras in your face while you're going through passport control. This moment I noticed was interesting because it wasn't at all performative, and the camera barely caught it. It was just them being them.

what quirky thing do you do as a result of fandom? Sometimes when i come across one on YT, I will leave one of those kpop airport departure/arrival livestreams up for a while and look at it intermittently. They're strangely hypnotic (right up to the moment the idols appear and then they're nuts)

Don't remember being assigned a single one-anything like that I read, I did on my own. But one of my favorite teachers did play an audio recording of someone reading Bradbury's "There Will Come Soft Rains"--it really made an impact on me. (Being of the generation that did duck and cover drills.)

Have you read Susan Orlean's "The Library Book"? It's a fascinating history of the Los Angeles public library, but it's also a love song to libraries everywhere, and the vast array of public services they perform. Highly recommended!
