Read somewhere that during the late 19th/early 20th centuries, a Brooklyn and New Orleans accents were very similar and the latter was different from other Southern accents. So maybe he was right?

When I used to haunt charity shops for vinyl in the 90s it was 80% Mantovani and Paul Young. Now I'm after cheap CDs and it's 80% landfill indie. The CD era was really no more than 10-15 years.

Conference presentation a few months ago by Russ Bestley traced the hidden correspondences that link the Wombles with punk (besides Chris Spedding). The guy who designed the sleeve for 'Remember yr a Womble' also did the first Clash album.
