we're spending a lot of money on fusion and we're still making the same timescale claims we were in 1984, when I was taught it in college. I was told then on the basic science, it just might not be practical. But yeah, let's tax AI energy use at 5000 times the commercial price.

I'm fairly certain it's a sign of just how seriously one should take their claims of getting fusion online: about as seriously as their claims that genuine AI is just around the same corner...
