So here I am, watching Lost Girl again, which is not a good show by any means (though I am arguably rather overly invested in the genre, and its execution)—but it is enjoyable; largely due to the character of Kenzi: cast your foils and sidekicks with great care, people.

Au contraire: it's very clear whenever he starts to specify behaviors, he ends up describing Republicans, and he knows it, so he wiggles back out to classifications, but tries to remove them from needing killing per se. He squirms in his exhortations, and that needs pinning.

Watching the British election returns I feel compelled to point out that the 650 person House of Commons represents 67 million people and the 435 person House of Representatives in the United States represents 333 million. Replace the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929. We deserve representation.

Frederick Douglass' speech "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July" is required reading for the 4th of July. So everybody read this. This speech is read aloud annually by a historical reenact-or at Douglass' home that's preserved as a site across town from me in Anacostia, DC. That happens today.

just watched 74 people speaking at least a dozen different languages become american citizens in a ceremony at monticello, where the speakers were themselves children of immigrants. inspiring stuff and a vivid illustration of what reactionaries want to snuff out

It is interesting that one of the things fascism destroys, deliberately, is the idea of a consensual reality. It purposely isolates its opponents into their own separate reality tunnels, bubbles, each fighting with each other while the boot crushes them.

Ideally, you’d specify terms and conditions on some sort of menu or rate card, and it’s their lookout if they didn’t realize the basic plan doesn’t preclude disclosure.
